Linux Role - Sussex -Up to £35k
To join a team of platform support technicians who manage the day to day running of our IVR*ASR platforms across multiple hosting locations. The platforms technologies utilised are Microsoft front end, Linux*Microsoft backend, F5 Big IP load balancing, with a full Cisco network infrastructure.
These backend servers perform various service critical functions within a busy 24*7 live environment, such as: Application, Web stats and Database servers.
Key functional responsibilities
· Document current, then define and implement improvements in the software configuration (OS and modules) of our Linux backend*middleware servers.
· Day to day maintenance & administration of Linux servers and network devices.
· Roll out of services to production platform and assist development team in "Standardising" applications for production where required, including documentation of design schemas and future roll out documents.
· Set up and use*build*specify administration and monitoring tools whereas required.
· Other administration duties within the department as required.

Candidate profile, experience and skill
Experience
· Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
· 5-6 years experience of commercial systems administration, preferably in large hosting business.
· Networking knowledge with Cisco*Microsoft*Linux
· Good problems analysis and solving skills.
· Excellent organisational and analysis skills
· Excellent working practices.
Technical skills
Required
· Linux systems administration
· Perfect knowledge of PHP*Apache*Perl
· Networking skills (architecture and implementation)
· Load Balancing F5
· Clustering technologies
· Microsoft OS experience, Networking,
Desired
· Project Management experience, with the ability to both define and control project lifecycles
Qualifications
Degree level trained, with commercial experience.
